Things we did in Fredericksburg Texas

Last summer my husband and I went on a short but sweet weekend getaway to Fredericksburg Texas, a beautiful little city in central Texas known for its wineries. We were looking for a calm, relaxing ambient to disconnect and enjoy ourselves. Our stay was surrounded by a beautiful field and gorgeous evening, colorful skies. We loved spending time in but we also went and enjoyed some fun activities out in the town and wineries.

Our stay

Our stay was such a dream. We booked Cabins at Red Rock, The Retreat Cabin through AirBnB. It had a beautiful porch with the best view of the hill, field and trees. It was clean and cozy. My favorite part was the colors we would get of the skies each evening while sitting on some really comfy rocking chairs on the porch. It was quiet, peaceful and romantic. We spoke, laughed and had one of the best times, definitely the highlight of our getaway.

The Safari Wine Tour

We booked a Safari Wine Tour and it was so much fun! We booked through a website called Eventbrite. We were taken via shuttle through the ranch and were able to pet and feed goats, alpacas, camels and see huge bison and long horns that were saved and taken to this sanctuary. How sweet! We also got to see so many more animals like zebras and donkeys. It was so beautiful I even got emotional. Towards the end of the tour we were taken to a gorgeous winery for wine tasting up on a hill with dreamy views. We stayed there for a little bit to relax before heading back. I would definitely recommend this tour for your next Fredericksburg visit.

Food we loved

The first night we had dinner at Leroy’s Tex Mex BBQ. It was delicious and it was definitely an experience. We decided to sit inside because it was too hot out, but they had a beautiful outdoor space with a lot of tables where you could see the pretty skies. The next day we decided to go to Main St, only less than a ten minute drive from our stay. Main St. is great for some fun shopping and enjoying a nice stroll. We found this delicious Mexican restaurant, Nury’s Breakfast & Lunch, deep in one of the shops. It took us a minute to find. It was definitely worth it! I enjoyed some yummy enchiladas and the best michelada I’ve ever had in my life. Ten out of ten! An other spot we ended up loving was this popular brunch place near Main St called Sunset Grill. If you like sweet potato fries this is your spot! They had many choices and everything was delicious!

A beautiful place called Das Peach Haus

Last but not least, a Fredericksburg MUST, Das Peach Haus is a Hills Country treasure for sure! Stop by for a sweet treat, a cheese tray, a drink or a glass of wine while sitting in front of a ton of beautiful tall trees and a nice little pond that has comfortable chairs all around. Doesn’t that sound like a dream? My husband and I enjoyed some chocolate and peach drinks by the pond. It was a perfect little date! Overall this little shop and its surroundings were nothing less than beautiful and relaxing.
